Lumen is an app prototype designed for photographers to share entire photo albums with their network. Unlike open social photo applications like Instagram, Lumen is designed to work as a professional showcase for photographers to showcase entire projects and photo editorials in bulk rather than individually.
To start, I examined current popular photo sharing services like Instagram, Flikr, 500px, Tumblr, and others to get a sense of what their strengths and weaknesses were and how they aligned with core needs of photographers that I interviewed were. My findings revealed that unlike what many services allow, many photographers want the ability to share entire projects rather than individual posts of individual photos.
