When I originally began this project my intention was to only represent the different cities that I've lived in. I began with the original four: San Francisco, San Diego, Denver, and Pittsburgh. I wanted to express my love for each of these individual cities and capture their essence with one photo. Taking custom photos taken by either myself or other artists in the cities they represent and overlaying an old ad-style image pattern with appropriate typography, theme, and imagery. These images are designed to capture the imagination of the city and express the liveliness of the city to the viewer.
Since the project was released I began getting requests to incorporate other cities from all over the country by other people. After choosing a city to represent I study some of the history to accurately depict the feeling of the city in one image, which is sometimes the most fun part of the project. While researching these cities I learn a lot about the history and the culture of the city. While I haven't lived in the new cities that I'm representing, I hope that I'm accurately depicting the feel of being in these cities the way that a native would.
